I haven't been able to get on lj for the last several weeks, due to various family related reasons, and being in St Ives part of that time. If you ever have the chance, go to St Ives (the one in Cornwall), glorious, glorious beaches, lovely ice-cream, proper Cornish pasties. Also, if you have lots of money (un-like me *sob*)go to the Carbis Bay Hotel. This week, however, I have at last been able to get on-line and now I am finally, finally caught up with my friends page. I only have about five friends - how on earth popular, well known people cope I can't imagine!

While it was a pain being off-line all that time, it meant that there were lots of really good fics waiting to be read. And, conversely, I got to read some good books; Last Summer, by Michael Thomas Ford, which I loved and completely recommend. It's the gay romance I've always wanted to read (and write, I wish!) with a sufficiency of properly written sex scenes (not like the mad purple prose in his other novel, whose name now escapes me) and, for bonus points, the hero has dark hair and green eyes!

And City of Glass, by Cassandra Clare, the last part of the Mortal Instruments trilogy. This was so very reminiscent of the second half of Draco Veritas, the whole plot is more or less the same, but this was my favourite of the three - each one was an improvement on the last, and it made me want to re-read the others. Plus, she only used the word 'ichor' twice, that I noticed, in this one, whereas it was dotted about all over the place in the second one.

Never managed to get to St Ives, but I will one day. It sounds like you had a great time ... I remember thinking it would be a good idea to write a "Best Cream Teas in Devon and Cornwall" book last time I was there *laughs*

Still haven't read the Cassandra Clare books. I guess I will have to look out for them.

I did have a good time in Cornwall, though the weather was mixed, but we did have a couple of really lovely days.

I'd offer to lend you the CC books except that I've only got the last one - I had the other two out of the library.
