Ashes to Ashes

I missed the first episode of this new series, but to be honest, I don't watch this for the plot, which is completely preposterous. I watch it because I love the cars and music and clothes which remind me of my brief prime. Actually the clothes are still not quite right. Spot on for period but way too casual. I really don't think that a woman in a position of authority would get away with wearing trousers to work - she'd have been in a pencil skirt, surely, no matter how impractical that was for raiding a gypsy camp. At least she's not showing her underwear all the time anymore. Gene Hunt's dialogue is a riot, as always, but I do wish that Keeley Hawes wouldn't do all that breathy whispering all the time - it irritates the life out of me.
The highlight of Monday's episode though, was when DCI Drake delivered a baby, was at the messy end wearing a white jacket, and yet five minutes later there was not a spot of blood anywhere on her. Magic.
