The new Red Dwarf

I've just watched the three episodes of the new Red Dwarf mini-series which I sky-plussed while I've been at my mum and dad's for Easter. It's always a danger when you really look forward to something that it won't live up to expectations, but this, I think, would have seemed poor anyway. It was three half-hour segments and imo there was one funny scene out of all it - the one where they've killed the creator and Lister is writing the script. I particularly liked the 'Sideshow Bob' rake sequence. I wasn't keen on all the knowing self-referencing (ie the entire plot) and the Blade Runner rip-off/homage was a bit tiresome too. To be honest it was always on a hiding to nothing because you would have to go a looooong way to compare to the original despair squid episode ("I'm on the run with a murderer, a mass murderer and a man in a bri-nylon coat!").
Easter was good - saw both my brothers and my new nephew - who has grown and changed so much since I first saw him at Christmas. Back to work tomorrow - woe, woe and thrice woe.
'Ocean's 13' is on in the background and I had forgotten how completely drop-dead gorgeous Brad Pitt is. Genetics is unfair.
