Memory is a tricky thing...
Sep. 20th, 2010 09:25 pmToday I was looking for a fic which I read a while ago. I remembered two parts of it quite distinctly, but not the author or title or where I'd read it, or anything useful in fact.
And then I thought that I'd found it because I found a fic that began exactly how I remembered it starting, but it turned out to be a completely different fic.
I have now found and re-read the one I was searching for, and oddly, although most of it was familiar, I didn't remember the opening AT ALL.
In my memory the beginning of one fic had been grafted onto the other. Both fics were about the same scenario and characters, but by different authors and really quite different. How odd is that? I'd have been prepared to swear I was right.
