K/S slash on University Challenge

I'm just watching University Challenge after the most exhausting day and I was astonished to hear Jeremy Paxman asking a starter question about slash fanfic. The question said it was a controversial genre and then asked who K and S where in K/S said to be the origination of it. The captain of the St Edmund Hall team got it right but he could just have worked it out because they did say it was Star Trek.
