So I was quite interested to see reviews of Daniel Radcliffe's performance in 'Equus' because I have rather mixed feelings about him in the HP films. But the reaction seems to be universally positive. I keep wanting to say "did he pull it off" but given all the hype about his nakedness it seems too much like a carry on joke. The fuss there has been about him getting his kit off I assumed he was unclothed for the whole thing - but it seems from the reviews that it's only the last 10 minutes or so. And I was astonished that Warner Bros were apparently appalled by the publicity shots; according to the Daily Mail "One was quoted as saying:
"Now our star is out there doing full-frontal sex. We've been blown completely out of the water by this."

My first thought was 'had they not read the play?' but typing it just now it occurred to me that I'd never read it so why should I expect unknown WB execs to have done? But even if they hadn't read it, the first thing anybody mentioned from the moment it was announced that he was going to be in it was that he would be nude. How had they missed this crucial point? It seems though now that it may all be over reaction by the press (never!) because WB have issued a retraction of sorts saying that they support Daniel's artistic decisions or words to that effect.

In other news, I have been reading the fantastic fics posted over at [community profile] hd_holidays, finally. I am about half-way through December. For me particular highlights have been [livejournal.com profile] silentauror's fic for [livejournal.com profile] emmagrant01 and the really perfect 'Comfort Food' by [livejournal.com profile] arsenicjade. I love that particular version of Draco, reduced by circumstances but getting by - just.
