“Potter,” Malfoy nodded as he entered the lift. Harry was surprised to see him back at work so soon.
“I’m very sorry about your wife,” he said as Draco joined him in the lift. Malfoy half turned his head to look at Harry standing behind him, ”Thank you. She had been in poor health for some time,” Draco replied sadly.
Harry studied the back of Draco’s neck where his hair curled under just so. He remembered how soft the skin was there and the way Draco moaned as he kissed it.
Until his intrusive thoughts won.
“Mal…Draco, would you like to have a drink with me sometime?” Harry asked in a rush. “Or a meal or um, a concert or something…”
He ground to a halt as Draco turned around fully to face him, his face a study of astonished anger, “Potter, are you asking me on a date? My wife is barely cold in her grave! What in god’s name made you think that was remotely acceptable?” He turned away angrily.
“Draco, I’ve been in love with you for half my life, I don’t want to spend the rest of it regretting that I didn’t say anything when I had the chance. I let you slip away before and I don’t want that to happen again. So I know this isn’t the moment, but when you’re ready, I’ll be waiting.”
