vickyduckyI finally got to see the JKR programmed I sky-plussed ages ago. It wasn't as in depth on her as I would have liked but then why should she open herself up for my entertainment? In retrospect the bit with her sister and the quickfire questions at the beginning and end were quite revealing. I haven't heard the second part of the Pottercast interview yet so maybe the answers to this are in there but:
Why when she came back from Portgual did she go and live in Edinburgh? Did she go to university there or something? It's not like she had a job she was going to so why pick there? Not that I have anything against Edinburgh it just seems a bit odd to go there if she had no previous association with it. If she had, what was it?
What I want to know most is what happened to Draco and his parents between the end of DH and the epilogue? I really am not that bothered that Scorpius' middle name is Hyperion or that Draco married Daphne Greengrass' sister but you know, did Lucius go back to gaol? Was Narcissa prosecuted for her part in things, or Draco for that matter? Did they go to gaol or was her helping Harry enough to get a pardon? Do they still have Malfoy Manor and all their money? For that matter why is everyone so down on the name Scorpius? How is it worse than Albus or Remus or Blaise?
In the nothing to do with JKR category I was sorry to discover that George Macdonald Fraser has died. Of course he was what is ridiculously called a good age but I love the Flashman novels so much. They are so cleverly plotted and very very very funny. And taught me more about military history than I would ever have imagined knowing. I am sad that the tale of Flashy's experiences in the American civil war (in which he fought on both sides, and I think won medals) will never now be told. First fan fiction I ever read, I suppose.
