I know, I know, never mention politics or religion, but I just can't keep my mouth shut any longer. These people who have allegedly claimed for mortgage interest on mortgages they'd paid off - I'm not a lawyer, but to me that seems like straight forward fraud.

To consider an example. Say I claimed for expenses from my employer for journeys I hadn't actually made, or I had made but they weren't anything to do with work. When I was found out, and only then, mind you, I apologised and said it was a mistake and that I'd pay it all back. Do you know what I think would happen? I'd be sacked, straight away, I'd face a criminal prosecution and probably a prison sentence, and, if I ever did get another job, my earnings would be sequestered until I damn well had paid it all back. And it's just my opinion, but I feel this is very much a situation were it should be that what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
