Writer's block and life generally
Nov. 30th, 2009 05:57 amToday's/yesterday's Writer's block thing is
Do you put up decorations for the holidays? If so, when do the decorations go up and when do you take them down?
My answer is yes, we put them all up yesterday, all day yesterday. To be honest I don't really approve of putting Christmas decs up this early, but it's December tomorrow and my son really wanted to do the tree, so we relented. Each year we buy some new lights for the outside of the house, so it now looks a bit like something from National Lampoons, but good with it. I used to be a bit of a snob about outside lights but I have completely changed my mind now - I love them. Bad for global warming, of course, but cheerful and cheering.
Inside is just the tree for the moment, and some animatronic figures which sing 'We wish you a Merry Christmas' - very kitsch, but D loves them.
I don't usually work on a Monday but today I am going to a study day in London. I have been awake half the night fretting about a) finding the tube station (I need the Metropolitan line but get into Euston so have to walk to Euston Square) b) being mugged/knifed (Oh God I am so provincial) and c) making a complete prat of myself in front of lots of people who know more about everything than I do. Happy times!
