Back in October when this was in the cinema, I nearly made a difficult and inconvenient journey to Dudley to see this film. Having watched it on Sky, I am extremely glad I didn't bother.

It was inevitable, I think, that it would be a completely different beast to the 1981 television series. They had to tell the story in just over 2 hours, rather than the, I think, 13 hours of the series. So I accept that things had to be cut and changed and scenes and characters merged. And I loved Anthony Andrews' Sebastian so very much, that it was always going to be difficult to accept somebody else in the role. But none of this explains why this film was so incredibly awful. )

So, don't bother with this film, read the novel and/or spend all day watching the ITV series instead.
