I'm sensing a pattern here - and maybe it's just that I've become an old git - it wasn't like this in my day. I loved the original 'Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin' and I have to say I thought they would really struggle to do it without Leonard Rossiter in the lead, but actually what really did for it was the script. Obviously they had to update it, but it just wasn't funny, although the studio audience howled with laughter throughout. Perhaps it will improve when I've got used to it being different. I seem to remember that the original didn't really get into its stride until he actually decides to kill himself.

I woke up in the middle of Thursday night with a pain in my chest. It wasn't a crushing pain and it wasn't radiating down my left arm, so I assumed it was indigestion and turned over. As I was laying there, the thought occurred to me, that if it had been a heart attack, at least I wouldn't have had to go to work the next day! When a heart attack seems preferable to going to work things have hit a new low.
