Babbitty Rabbitty and her cackling stump
Mar. 7th, 2008 08:54 amI was reading
amanuensis1's fascinating discussions about the elder wand and in one of the comments
shiraz_wine provided a link to Amazon's summaries of 'The Tales of Beedle the Bard'. I hadn't read these before and they sound really good - inventive and humorous and just like real fairy tales. For some reason though I'd always envisioned Babbitty Rabbitty's stump as a sort of wooden leg. I mean that she had had a leg amputated and so had a stump (I'm absolutely certain there is a more pc word for this - not to mention a correct medical term but I can't think of either) which then had a wooden prosthesis attached and it was this that cackled. Which now I think of it is obviously wrong because I wasn't imagining the 'stump' cackling but the leg. Of course in the story it turns out that the stump in question is a tree stump. I wonder why my brain went for a false leg? Weird.
